Yankowski also previously served as president of Sony Electronics and as chief executive of Reebok. He will replace David Rose, Ambient’s current chief executive, who is leaving to pursue other career interests but will remain a shareholder in the company.
Rose co-founded Ambient in 2001 with Pritesh Gandhi and Ben Resner. The company develops specialized gadgets including a portable color-changing unit to display the daily weather forecast in 150 US cities, and Ambient Orb, a glass ball that glows different colors to reflect changes in the stock market, traffic congestion, and other information.
