Colt Technology Services has announced plans to collaborate with technology company IBM to help customers adopt 5G and edge technology solutions.
Under the collaboration, the companies will help customers adopt edge computing strategy to be able to move data and applications across hybrid cloud environments, from private data centres to the edge.
Colt and IBM plan to jointly explore innovative use cases using IBM Cloud Satellite systems and Edge Application Manager, to benefit enterprise customers across 29,000 enterprise buildings.
Colt stated that the companies are currently adopting new cloud technologies to address their business challenges.
It also noted that managing new, distributed infrastructure is not simple for the organisations, particularly when these applications have stringent location-dependent requirements that include low latency, regional data compliance and resiliency.
Built on Red Hat OpenShift, IBM Cloud Satellite systems are designed to allow companies to install open and secure the company’s Cloud services anywhere they choose.
Colt said that the virtual machines for IBM Cloud Satellite can be configured using a management and orchestration tool with zero-touch provisioning.
The company’s on-demand networking capabilities help critical connectivity to be provisioned in near-real time to enable distributed cloud deployments at the edge with IBM Edge Application Manager for its customers across 29,000 enterprise buildings.
