The goal is to identify, authenticate and manage enterprise users, regardless of where they are and how they access the network, said the companies. Aruba’s follow-me security technology enables security policies to be associated with users, instead of ports or hardware, which means they don’t rely on the user’s location or method of network access.

The pair said they would co-design hardware and software modules that will add wireless local area network switching to forthcoming Alcatel-Lucent products. These modules would bolster the security of mobile communications in any sized company, according to the companies.

Alcatel-Lucent said it would market and sell a mobile platform that would integrate Aruba’s security networking technology with Alcatel-Lucent’s wired network infrastructure and communication and collaboration applications suite.
