The Vettro 360 suite of applications from the New York-based ISV integrates with multiple enterprise systems to mobilize them, as well as boasting advanced capabilities such as GPS, Bluetooth peripherals, RFID, point-of-service transactions, and printing. The platform uses an on-demand model, which it says allows for fast deployment, customization and updates over-the-air.
Applications are instantly delivered after the initial download on the mobile device, with five areas of application currently offered: sales and CRM, facilities management, service and repair, IT service management and pickup and delivery, i.e. field force automation.
As for the platforms supported by the Vettro technology, Peter Asman, director of alliances and channel for Vettro in Europe said it develops in Java and so can deploy to any Java-enabled phone, as well as specifically supporting Windows Mobile, Symbian and BlackBerry.
Linux is also on our roadmap because of the Asian market, he went on.
The relationship with O2 is significant in that it gives additional visibility to Vettro in Europe, where its sole mobile operator customer to date has been Orange, also in the UK. It also opens up a window of opportunity into the Telefonica group, said Asman.
In the North American market, Vettro is already in use at Sprint, Bell Canada and within Cingular (now AT&T), though that carrier has also recently unveiled a relationship with another player in mobile app enablement, namely Antenna Software.
