Voltage’s SecureMail was selected by the Boston Medical Center because of its overall lowest cost of ownership when compared to traditional public key infrastructure-based approaches. Voltage SecureMail will be used to protect sensitive hospital information that is sent via email within the center, as well as to external recipients.

Boston Medical Center also selected Voltage SecureMail because of attributes such as its stateless architecture, the ability to easily add Boston Medical Center-specific branding to encrypted email messages and its clean integration with mobile devices such as Blackberrys.

We looked at a variety of the solutions that are available on the market today and the management overhead and usability issues did not fit within our strategy for lowering costs of compliance as well as making it as easy to use as possible for our staff, said Brad Blake, director of information technology for Boston Medical Center. When we saw the stateless architecture of the Voltage system and realized the simplicity it offered for our end users, we were very impressed with the pilot and are actively moving towards production deployment.
