Vaau offers a product suite called RBACx, which enables companies to implement internal security control policies and automate the identity management processes. It includes identity warehouse for storing user information, compliance manager for targeting identity auditing and role manager, which is a role and rule engine.

According to Sun, the combination of Vaau’s RBACx solution with its Solaris 10 operating system powered identity management portfolio enables organizations to streamline the provisioning process and reduce the cost of auditing.

As a leader in enterprise role management and identity certification, Vaau provides an integrated set of capabilities to automate and enforce internal security controls that will further enhance Sun’s ability to provide comprehensive solutions to our customers across the full spectrum of governance, risk and compliance, said Jim McHugh, vice president of Marketing, Software Infrastructure at Sun.

The acquisition is expected to be completed during Sun’s fiscal 2008 third quarter, which begins on December 31, 2007.

IT infrastructure providers have recently made a trend of acquiring companies to enhance their identity management solutions portfolios. In September 2007, Oracle acquired ERM vendor Bridgestream, while Cisco bought security software maker Securent in November 2007.
