Atos Origin won the 257m pound contract with the Department of Health for diagnostic services, but issues with the way patient information is being recorded has led to a suspension of the contract while an investigation is carried out.

The suspension is another in a long list of problems the UK government has had with IT vendors on health projects. It is currently under fire for the much-delayed and costly Connecting for Health program which involves a complete overhaul of the National Health Service’s applications and infrastructure.

In separate news, Atos Origin announced a contract win with Dutch pharmaceutical firm DSM for IT services over the next six years.
