The San Jose, California-based software firm said that lifecycle ES allows companies to standardize on document design, production and distribution cycle across the organization, supporting both on-demand and batch cycles.
The Suite blends classic document generation with e-forms, process management, and document security to cover the complete document lifecycle — from creation to archive. It effectively replaces Adobe’s older Central Output Server product line.
LifeCycle ES is broken up into two main software modules that interact with one another.
Adobe LiveCycle Production Print ES (for high volume production output) and LiveCycle Output ES (for on-demand and medium-sized volumes) merge enterprise data with LiveCycle Designer ES templates to deliver personalized documents that engage, invite, and inform.
LifeCycle Production ES is the result of joint-development work done with StreamServe earlier this year. StreamServe’s Persuasion software, used to streamline the production of PostScript, PCL, and PDF formatted documents like bank statements and stock price notifications. It also supports Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) for automating document handling in mailroom environments.
LifeCycle output ES meanwhile lets companies assemble and shoot-off personalized documents in either print or e-formats — for example, contracts or shipping labels.
LiveCycle Production Print ES is available in limited release today, with general availability expected in Fall 2007. Adobe LiveCycle Output ES is expected to ship in July 2007. Adobe’s existing document generation product line, the Adobe Central Output Server family, will continue to be available, with an attractive trade-up offer available to customers wishing to upgrade to the new product.
Separately Adobe also announced new video software called Visual Communicator 3 that helps students and teachers to create television-quality broadcasts. The software is built on Adobe’s Flash Media Server software and streams video over the Internet in FLV format. It can also be output to a projector, television of close circuit system.
An English language version of Visual Communicator 3 for Windows is expected to be available this fall at a cost of $399.
