According to SecondWave, the new entity will be named Amcom Software and will cater to a larger market with the Xtend product suite. Minneapolis will become the headquarters for the combined organization and the erstwhile New York headquarters of Xtend will retain the support, development, implementation and sales staff. The technical support and services teams will operate from both the locations. The combined strength is expected to be more than 150 with annual sales of approximately $28 million.

In March 2007, SecondWave acquired Amcom as part of its strategy to finding value in smaller software companies.

The combination of Amcom and Xtend creates a powerful entity for customers. We will now provide the broadest suite of mission-critical communications solutions for organizations in healthcare, government, education, hospitality, public safety and corporate markets, said Chris Heim, chief executive at SecondWave and Amcom.

SecondWave also claims that the new entity will serve the mission-critical communication needs of 80% of the top-ranked hospitals in the US.
