The auction company told Reuters on Friday that it has resumed its Adwords campaign, albeit in a much more limited way that before.

The two companies came to blows two weeks ago after Google held a Let Freedom Ring party, scheduled to coincide with an eBay user event, which called on eBay to allow its sellers to accept Google Checkout as a payment option.

eBay owns Paypal, a popular method of person-to-person payments, clearly has no interest in allowing Google to move in on its customers, and was irked that Google was trying to rain on its parade.

Google ended up cancelling its party, but not before eBay had pulled its Adwords campaigns in retribution for the slight.

eBay is one of Google’s largest advertisers, having its ads displayed against virtually any searched-for keyword that can be construed or misconstrued as a product sold by eBay users.

Resuming its Adwords campaigns is obviously good news for Google, but reducing its ad spend clearly is not. According to Reuters, eBay will now spend a greater portion of its ad cash with Google’s rivals including Yahoo and Microsoft.
