According to NetLogic, its knowledge-based processor was fabricated on Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company’s (TSMC) 55 nanometer (nm)-GP process, which offers power, performance and cost advantages.
We are pleased to have collaborated closely with TSMC on the 55nmGP process technology, said Mo Maghsoudnia, vice president of manufacturing at NetLogic.
NetLogic said that its processors offer advanced parallel processing capabilities to enhance quad-play, or the convergence of voice, video, data and mobility, and internet protocol version 6 applications. The company claimed that the use of TSMC’s 55nm technology allows the processor to perform 500 million decisions per second (MDPS) using less power compared to previous designs.
NetLogic earlier collaborated with TSMC in February 2007, to leverage TSMC’s 80nm-GC process for its NL71024 knowledge-based processor.
