According to GSI, the acquisition will enable it to deliver integrated, multichannel e-commerce solutions to both the UK and global retailers. The acquisition includes Zendor’s e-commerce expertise, local sales and marketing experience. GSI also said that it adds Zendor’s five UK retailers in the toys and baby, home and apparel categories.

Also after the acquisition, GSI’s said that its global e-commerce partner base has increased to approximately 85.

Zendor.com’s parent company N Brown Group said: The sale of Zendor will successfully complete our disposal program of noncore activities and enables us to concentrate on our core strategy of growth in the catalog and internet retail market.

The acquisition of Zendor provides GSI with the opportunity to integrate Zendor’s leading fulfillment and customer care capabilities with GSI’s proven e-commerce technology solution, said Steven Davis, president and managing director at GSI. In fact, Europe is set to grow at a compounded annual growth rate of 23% through 2010 compared to 12% for the US. That’s a great growth opportunity for retailers, brands and GSI.

Adding GSI’s leading technology to Zendor’s multichannel expertise and fulfillment and customer care infrastructure will provide a fully integrated solution to UK retailers and brands, said Nick Allen, chief executive at Zendor.

According to the company, Zendor’s 100 employees will be transferred to GSI Commerce and it will be re-named Zendor GSI Commerce. The acquired company will maintain its offices in Manchester and will report to GSI’s international headquarters in Barcelona.

In September 2007, GSI also acquired another North Carolina-based e-commerce solutions provider Accretive Commerce for $97.5m in cash to enhance its product offerings.
