Once registered with the new service, shoppers can pay for goods at any participating retailer, without having to get out their credit card every time a transaction is made.
Google Checkout has ambitions to belittle PayPal, the globally dominating online payments company owned by eBay. The launch of the service in June 2006 in the US was expected to steal PayPal’s limelight, but PayPal users have continued to grow and the company now has a customer base of more than 133 million users worldwide, The Telegraph revealed.
Google Checkout is designed to boost Google’s primary income, the selling of adverts on its site, by offering cheap order processing for its advertisers.
