Vienna-headquartered GISquadrant focuses on the local government and utility sectors and has around 200 customers dotted around Austria, Germany, Croatia and Hungary.
The company’s software helps local government and utility customers to more effectively create, manage and utilize their geospatial data, which is critical to the workflows of their operations.
Geospatial describes the combination of spatial software and analytic methods with geographic datasets. The term is often used in conjunction with geographical information systems.
Intergraph was founded in 1969 as M&S Computing and is based in Huntsville, Alabama. The company’s spatial information management software, which provides visualization and 3-D modeling and map rendering capabilities, is used extensively by US and European government and military agencies for intelligence and national security applications as well as oil and gas, communications and transportation firms to manage their infrastructure assets.
Intergraph said the acquisition will both enhance its SIM product line and strengthen its presence in Europe.
Both companies have partnered since 1993 and share some European customers.
Intergraph said it will continue to support GISquadrant’s Respublica software as a standalone product and also integrate parts of into its own geospatial platform.
