The deal includes Comtech’s MT-2012 mobile satellite transceivers that have global positioning system and embedded RFID technologies, as well as satellite bandwidth and technical services. Savi Technology’s EchoPoint RFID Reader will also be used.

Other hardware that Comtech will supply include ruggedized and control station computers and installation kits. Services include program management, engineering services, field service support, satellite network bandwidth services and infrastructure, as well as network operations center services and customer support.

The new contract, which is handled by Maryland-based Comtech’s Mobile Datacom subsidiary, runs from September 1 to July 12, 2010. It follows an original $418.2m deal from 1999, which was extended through August 31 and increased by $45m earlier this year.
