ZTE, a provider of telecommunications equipment and network offerings, has announced UQ Communications (UQC), the mobile WiMAX license holder in Japan, has started deploying WiMAX Pico base stations that was developed by ZTE in collaboration with Hitachi.

The company said that the Pico base station is an important network element in the high-speed wireless 4G network.

The ZXMBW E9201 unit can be used indoors and outdoors and the device has low power consumption and green design features.

The unit supports UL 64QAM and adopts high-efficiency data communication and high anti-interference technologies such as MIMO, CSM and FFR to implement high-speed data communication.

ZTE said that the WiMAX Pico base station was selected by Hitachi due to its small size, light weight, zero footprint, flexible installation and rapid deployment.
