Chelsio Communications, a provider of 10-Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) adapters and storage offerings, has released version 2.0 of its Unified Storage Server (USS) software, which is a 10Gb Ethernet enterprise-ready, high performance iSCSI SAN, NAS and RDMA storage offering.
The company said the new USS is designed to meet the storage performance and return on investment (ROI) challenges faced by data centre cluster environments, including high-performance computing environments.
USS provides NAS and SAN capabilities to enable resellers and OEMs, including high-performance cluster computing (HPCC)-focused channel organisations, to turn any 64-bit Intel- or AMD-based system into a complete, cost-effective storage system.
The new version enables the users to connect to a network, define local workgroups, add/delete users, create shares and select local file sharing protocols, according to Chelsio.
It can be used with new hardware or can be mapped on top of existing, fully depreciated hardware to convert existing servers into storage targets.
The new USS supports HTTP file sharing, thin provisioning volumes, volume cloning, redirect-on-write snapshots, instant restore from snapshots, volume encryption, and replication compression.
