Jaspersoft CEO Brian Gentile
Open source business intelligence firm Jaspersoft will launch its latest major upgrade code-named Project Ruby within the next 45 days, CBR has learned.
Speaking to CBR, Jaspersoft CEO Brian Gentile said the latest release will be particularly welcomed by those that embed Jaspersoft into their own applications: that group already accounts for between 60 and 70 per cent of its business. Further details will be released nearer the launch.
Gentile said: "We’re also going to be able to demo this release on an iPad, because the server will recognise that users are interacting with it on that device – because of our architecture we have been able to quickly and simply support full-featured browser-based Jaspersoft experience on the iPad."
Earlier this week Jaspersoft announced that it has surpassed 100 companies using Jaspersoft in the cloud, and said cloud deployments of Jaspersoft in the cloud are growing at almost 300% per year. Customers include AdGenesis, Cardsmith, eBuilder, ENERGYSYS, Fat Spaniel, QED Financial Systems, SereneCloud, Tomax, Virgin Money Giving and Yarris.
"If there is one thing we have learned since engaging our first cloud customer three years ago, it’s that there is a right way and a wrong way to tackle BI in the cloud," said Gentile. "With over 100 customers, we believe our ‘platform and partner’ approach is proving to be the best way to deliver BI in the cloud. Other vendors have had challenges selling cloud-based BI as a platform directly to end-user customers, forcing them to switch their focus to domain-specific BI applications."
The firm announced a new cloud-focused partnership program and a free trial of its BI platform in the cloud.
Gentile said the company now has a total of 175,000 resgistered users of its software, of which over 1,000 are paying customers – the rest using Jaspersoft’s free, open source tools.
