Alcatel-Lucent has released a new software developer’s kit (SDK) – SDK Rel. 1.0, for its smart desk phone My IC Phone.

The new SDK Rel. 1.0 is an open source toolkit for development and enablement of enterprise communications applications for My IC Phone and future smart desk phones.

It enables developers to develop, test and deploy applications with the phone itself, and uses open Web programming standards (such as Java Script, HTML 5.0, Ajax) to reduce the developer learning curve.

The company has also launched an enhanced developer portal that allows developers to begin creating applications immediately. It will be available worldwide in November.

Alcatel-Lucent said that the development environment is designed to grow an ecosystem of My IC Phone developers and applications and is a place for community interaction and collaboration.
