Data management and data protection offerings provider Overland Storage has acquired MaxiScale, a provider of file serving and storage offerings. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

With the acquisition, Overland Storage has gained MaxiScale’s assets, intellectual property and members of its engineering team.

Overland said that the integration of MaxiScale’s technology into its file storage portfolio, it will provide cloud-scale storage capabilities that reduce capital and operational costs while improving performance and eliminating need for forklift upgrades.

Overland Storage CTO and VP of engineering Geoff Barrall said MaxiScale’s architecture will provide the company’s customers with the ability to scale hundreds of SnapServers into one unified pool of storage.
