Quest Software has released vWorkspace 7.2 Beta 2 which delivers extended enterprise readiness through reporting and logging; and PowerShell cmdlets for automation and integration with third party systems.

The company said that the new version of the vWorkspace reporting and logging features include historical tracking of administrative actions.

The offering also includes a new database, report viewer, and report templates for SQL Reporting Services and Quest TOAD for SQL that provide information across the vWorkspace infrastructure.

Quest Desktop Virtualisation Group vice president of product management Jon Rolls said, Version 7.2 provides IT administrators with tools that simplify virtual desktop installation and provisioning, while expanding management capabilities across the virtual infrastructure.

"By adding more extensive management through PowerShell, and advanced logging and reporting to vWorkspace, Quest has improved what is already a great fit for larger installations," Rolls said.

The company said that the addition of the vWorkspace Quickstart Wizard, in conjunction with an new vWorkspace installer, reduces time to value for customers.

PowerShell in vWorkspace also enables integration with outside management tools, further adding to the readiness of vWorkspace’s for enterprise deployment.
