Evident Software, a provider of Application Performance Management (APM) for NoSQL, data caching and Java applications, has unveiled ClearStone 4.5, the company’s production-class offering for monitoring and managing all data tiers of enterprise applications.

ClearStone provides real time collection, correlation, management and visualisation of enterprise and Web-based applications, enabling developers and operations personnel to monitor, manage, and optimise the performance of Internet-scale apps from a ‘single pane of glass.’

The company said that the 4.5 version extends the ClearStone platform to cover Apache Cassandra, an open source distributed database, and Memcached, an open source data management architecture.

Evident Software CEO Scott Barnett said, NoSQL architectures such as Memcached and Cassandra enable developers and operations engineers to deploy and manage Internet-scale data volumes, but they create challenges for monitoring and troubleshooting applications.

"Traditional application monitoring tools focus on databases or JMX data collection," Barnett said.

"They’re blind to what’s happening in the data tiers managed by NoSQL and can’t correlate events and metrics from that tier to the rest of their application stack.

"ClearStone 4.5 addresses this problem by extending its proven, real-time data collection and analysis capabilities to NoSQL data caches. For the first time, developers and operations staff can see the entire application."

The company said that ClearStone 4.5 adds new visualisation capabilities to ClearStone’s Real-time Dashboard and a new collection configuration tool for the ClearStone Admin Console, in addition to introducing Management Packs for Memcached and Cassandra.

The collection config tool makes it easier than ever for users to configure data collection from Oracle Coherence clusters, Cassandra clusters, Memcached instances, and other custom Java applications.
