Acision, a provider of mobile data, has enhanced its broadband mobility suite with the launch of Acision Media Optimiser, to enable Internet broadband user access mobile video with quality of experience (QOE).

The company said, the new media optimiser reduces data traffic peaks by up to 50%, through an affordable, scalability approach, which uses a fraction of the hardware footprint found in most legacy products.

The new enhancement also safeguards QOE of mobile video for mobile broadband users. Mobile video already represents about 40% of all mobile data traffic and is expected to grow to 2.3 million Tb a month by 2014.

The new enhancement includes video shaping feature that reduces video traffic in a highly efficient manner without altering the content, and Acision’s transrating and transcoding technology that can be applied when required as well as off-line, providing operators full control over video QOE.

The company said that it also features intelligent caching that reduces Internet traffic and saves transcoding resources by delivering transcoded content directly from the cache.

Acision executive VP of mobile broadband Marco Wanders said that their unique, subscriber aware video optimisation solution overcame the drawbacks of legacy solutions, by providing content transparency and the lowest hardware footprint offered in the market today, reflecting a substantially lower total cost of ownership for the operator.

"With Acision Media Optimiser, operators can increase customer satisfaction but also drive new revenue and profitability by stimulating video and data usage."

Acision Broadband Mobility Suite is an affordable, scalable mobile broadband offering for the breadth of capability provided, and enables mobile operators to control all types of Internet traffic, cost effectively.
