Quest Software has launched Cloud Automation Platform 7.5, an enterprise-class cloud automation and management technology, which fully automates the delivery of complex IT services and can automatically reclaim unused infrastructure.
Originally developed by Quest’s recently acquired firm Surgient, the new platform features instant Cloud Insight with the Cloud Management Dashboard, self-service-enabled VM Migration, in-depth reporting with chargeback support, and enterprise deployment modes.
The company claims that the tool allows organisations to maximise the utilisation of cloud infrastructures, drive down IT costs and increase productivity.
Designed to work alongside a customer’s in-place helpdesk system, IT service catalogue, CMDB or runbook automation framework, the platform assumes the presence of virtual infrastructure from VMware or Microsoft and can interoperate with physical provisioning and automation from companies.
Operators will be able to configure resources and policies by utlising the platform, while users can request services as required. The platform manages the provisioning, use and recovery of the underlying resources.
Quest virtualisation management senior director of product management Steve Stover said that with its robust, scalable infrastructure management and service delivery capabilities, Quest Cloud Automation Platform 7.5 enables IT to dramatically impact capital and operating expenses in the data centre while driving unmatched business agility.
"Combined with Quest’s virtualisation management portfolio, Quest Cloud Automation Platform is a truly comprehensive, enterprise-class offering for deploying and automating IaaS private clouds," Stover said.
The company said that Quest Cloud Automation Platform will be available after 30 September 2010.
