The Asia-Pacific (APAC) video conferencing endpoints market revenues is estimated to reach $367.5m in 2010 at a growth rate of 9.5% year-on-year, while shipments are projected to grow by 14.1% to reach 108,434 units by end of 2010, according to a new report from Frost & Sullivan.

The report ‘Asia-Pacific Video Conferencing Endpoints Market’, estimated that the Asia-Pacific video conferencing endpoints market will grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 13.6% to reach $820m till 2016, while unit shipments are estimated to grow at a CAGR of 16.3% between 2009 and 2016.

The research firm said that the global economic slowdown in 2009 has restricted enterprises spending ability, resulting in drop of video conferencing endpoints market growth by 5.4% to $335m.

Frost & Sullivan industry manager Pranabesh Nath said that spending in the first three quarters of 2009 declined in almost all Asia-Pacific countries, but by end-2009 enough deals were closed to bring the market back from the red.

"Spending on video conferencing offerings picked up in the final quarter of 2009 and has shown similar upbeat trends so far in the first half of 2010. And expects this optimism to continue assuming the economic recovery proceeds as anticipated in most Asia-Pacific markets," Nath said.

"Throughout 2009, however, the video conferencing endpoints market remained active despite the global recession with new product launches from both emerging and established vendors.

"High definition systems in particular witnessed a flurry of activity, with the continued penetration of popular and affordable offerings from leading vendors. As a result, almost all of the units sold in 2009 in the mid- to high-range market were high definition offerings."
