Mertech has released BTR2SQL for MySQL driver that allows users of Btrieve/Pervasive transaction engines to run their applications with MySQL without requiring source level changes.

The company said that its BTR2SQL allows an existing application that is currently working exclusively with Btrieve to quickly function with an SQL database server.

The new driver provides developers with a platform-independent offering to use their existing code with MySQL database servers, while alleviating the costs associated with migrating applications from existing Btrieve/Pervasive data sources to MySQL databases.

Riaz Merchant, CEO of Mertech Data Systems, said: "We are seeing strong interest for MySQL among Independent Software Vendors. MySQL’s low total cost of ownership is very attractive for ISVs looking to embed a database with their applications,".

"Mertech already has a long association with MySQL with its DataFlex to MySQL solution, beginning with MySQL 3.2x. Developing a Btrieve to MySQL ISDBC driver will be another step towards completing our suite of offerings for Btrieve users."

Mertech already has Flex2SQL for MySQL product that allows DataFlex applications to work with MySQL without source level changes.
