Cisco, NetApp and VMware have joined forces to release end-to-end Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FcoE) offering for Vmware-virtual environment.

The combined offering enables FCoE end-to-end to reduce the number of devices and cables needed and to drive data centre consolidation, virtualisation and automation.

Cisco said that its data centre switches and NetApp storage FCoE offering are now validated by VMware to support VMware-based virtualised environments, which helps customers to achieve efficiency in their dynamic data centres and progress to cloud computing.

Cisco, NetApp and VMware are currently the networking, storage, and virtualisation vendors to combine data centre consolidation, virtualisation, and automation in a jointly certified end-to-end FCoE offering, which includes both FCoE initiators and FCoE storage targets.

In addition, the offering has completed the VMware Hardware Certification Program testing criteria for use with VMware software and is now listed on the VMware Hardware Compatibility Guide, with support offered by all three companies.
