Global Crossing, a IP offerings provider, has added social media interfaces and other enhancements to its web meeting offering with the launch of Web Meeting 11.

Web Meeting 11 increases participant interaction, and offers event recordings and promotion via direct interfaces with social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter. The new platform is part of Global Crossing’s suite of audio, video and web-based collaboration services.

Global Crossing’s Web Meeting 11 include a new icon-based platform that allows users to navigate more easily; links to meeting invites and automatic embeds of meeting recordings that can be shared via Facebook, Twitter and blogs; one-click meeting joining with no software downloads; and six new polling features that allow for questions, comments and post-meeting feedback.

The social media feature is an enhancement to the other existing features such as podcasting, online editing and full webinar setup that help users share information and meet online business application requirements, Global Crossing said.

Debra Swann, vice president of marketing at Global Crossing, said: "By integrating Web Meeting 11 with popular social media sites, we’re making it easier for customers to publicise upcoming live events, sales presentations, training sessions or other meetings.

"Social media allows customers to reach targeted audiences that would be most interested in their events, significantly improving their return on investment in promoting and sharing meeting content."
