IBM said that the Canadian cooperative financial group Desjardins Group, has selected them to help assist in infrastructure operations transformation.

The agreement includes outsourcing of Desjardins Group’s centralised IT infrastructure operations and hosting services under a five-year contract.

Big Blue said that it was selected to help Desjardins reduce IT complexity and provide high availability with a cost effective and flexible offering.

Saad Toma, general manager of global technology services at IBM Canada, said: "Financial services firms have to address complex requirements, from members and client’s services to regulatory obligations.

"This new agreement, which will be managed and delivered locally, will allow IBM teams to better support Desjardins Group’s team through its IT transformation. The future of financial services will require organisations to think and act in new ways and apply smarter technologies in order to balance business resiliency, achieve compliance objectives and optimise financial returns."
