Juniper Networks has reported total net revenue of $978.3m for the second quarter of 2010, an increase of 24% compared to $786.3m for the same period last year.

Revenues from product and service infrastructure grew by 23% year-over-year to $720.3m, while revenues from service layer technologies increased by 27% to $257.9m.

The company posted an operating income of $184.9m for the second quarter of 2010, compared to $95.6m for the same period last year.

For the second quarter ended June 30, 2010, the company posted net income of $130.5m, compared to a net income of $14.7m for the same quarter a year ago. Net income per share grew to $0.24 from $0.03 per share for year ago quarter.

Robyn Denholm, chief financial officer at Juniper Networks, said: "In the quarter we made good progress on our long-term model both in terms of growth rates and higher operating margin.

"We continued to make investments in R&D and Sales and Marketing to ensure we capture the market opportunity ahead of us.

"As the business outlook continues to improve, driving operational excellence throughout the organisation will remain a key area of focus. We are confident of delivering profitable growth in 2010."
