Quest Software has unveiled Server Administrator for SharePoint, which allows admins to view SharePoint 2010 and SharePoint 2007 server configurations, settings and customisations and compare them to identify risks and optimise SharePoint performance.

According to Quest Software, the new administration tool enables administrators to ensure that existing SharePoint 2007 environments are ready to upgrade to SharePoint 2010. The built-in graphical reports show what is ready to upgrade, and what is not, across all SharePoint farms.

In addition, the reports also provide a rating so critical issues can be corrected before the upgrade, the company said.

Anders Rask, SharePoint solution architect at ProActive, said: “Quest Server Administrator for SharePoint has proved extremely valuable for detecting upgrade readiness to SharePoint 2010, getting a quick overview of a SharePoint farm’s general health, and whether it is inline with best practices to optimise SharePoint performance.

“The best part is that it performs all of this from one comprehensive console. If you are a SharePoint administrator, you should definitely check out this tool.”
