Oracle and Docker are working together to make it easier for developers to use the two company’s technologies together.
With Oracle databases, middleware and developer tools now appearing in the Docker Store market place via the Docker Certification Program, the idea is that developers will be able to pull images of Big Red’s products in Docker and start developing, testing and deploying modern applications.
Available immediately, the tech on offer will include the Oracle Database, MySQL, Java 8 SE Runtime Environment, WebLogic Server, Coherence and Instant Client.
Mark Cavage, Vice President of Software Development at Oracle said: “Docker is revolutionizing the way developers build and deploy modern applications, but mission-critical systems in the enterprise have been a holdout until now.
“Together with Docker, Oracle is bringing bedrock software to millions of developers enabling them to create enterprise-grade solutions that meet stringent security, performance and resiliency SLAs with the high level of productivity and low friction that they have come to expect from Dockerizing their application development stack.”
This isn’t the first time Docker and Oracle have worked together, with Oracle already having more than 100 images of its products available on the Docker Hub, including OpenJDK and Oracle Linux.

Oracle’s recently been boosting its container ecosystem with the acquisition of Wercker, a Dutch developer support house that specialises in Docker and Kubernetes management tools for developers.
