McAfee has enhanced its enterprise firewall products with new capabilities that reportedly help its customers increase network security and lower their compliance and operational costs in both physical and virtual network environments.

McAfee said its products – Firewall Enterprise, Control Center and Profiler, integrate with its ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) software and leverage McAfee’s global threat intelligence.

The new capabilities include enhancements to firewall management, hybrid delivery options and integrated layers of threat protection. With the addition of Firewall Profiler, McAfee Firewall Enterprise becomes application and identity aware. The Firewall Enterprise includes TrustedSource geo-location to filter unwanted traffic before it hits the network, stopping attacks before they happen.

The company said that its revised version of Control Center and Firewall Reporter will simplify management of multiple firewalls and enable accurate audit and compliance reports. The Firewall Control Center now provides ePO software with firewall health data and reports for each firewall.

McAfee Firewall Enterprise is available in traditional appliance form factors, in a new virtualised hardware appliance and as a software-based firewall virtual appliance.

In addition to that, the company also announced its network security strategy to integrate its complete network security suite, intrusion prevention systems, web and e-mail gateway security and network data loss prevention with McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator to provide visibility into both external and internal threats and vulnerabilities and to protect networks and reduce both acquisition and operational costs.
