Salesforce, fresh from announcing a global artificial intelligence partnership with IBM, is now pushing forward its AI strategy for its customer relationship management platform.
The CRM company is making its 52nd major product release in 18 years with its Spring ’17 release that makes Einstein AI available to all of its customers.
Einstein, the AI system that’s built into the core of the Salesforce Platform, is also getting a few new features in the form of Einstein Vision.
The company says that this addition includes a set of new APIs that will allow developers to bring image recognition to CRM and to build AI-powered apps. Credited to the work done by Salesforce Research, Einstein Vision is capable of gaining insights from photos such as being able to detect inventory levels and product quality, to identifying customer trends and customer preferences.

Einstein is said to work by using advanced machine learning, deep learning, predictive analytics, natural language processing and smart data recovery.
The features of Einstein Vision includes Visual Search which allows for consumers to use visual filters in order to find products that best match their preferences and to take photos of products in order to see where they can be purchased.
The Brand Detection features works by analyzing user-generated images in communities, message boards and social media in order to give marketers a better understanding of their customers.
The final feature is Product Identification, this works by analysing images in order to give sales and service reps the ability to remotely evaluate product issues, manage inventory and so on.
The Spring ’17 release now makes Einstein AI available across six cloud areas that Salesforce offers, including; Sales Cloud Einstein, Service Cloud Einstein, Marketing Cloud Einstein and Analytics Cloud Einstein.
