Microsoft Windows has announced that Slack’s desktop app is now available to download from its Windows store.
Users can now search the app and download it from the store, removing the need to download the installer from the Slack website. The app appears just as an application conversion of the desktop version, with no major changes made to its features.
Windows is to provide automatic updates, with the app available now for Windows 10 users.
The Slack app enables users to communicate with team members, providing options to organise conversations filtered by topics, projects and other options. This can be accessed both via messaging and calling.
Documents can be transferred and edited, and users have the opportunity to embed familiar tools and services such as Google Drive, Salesforce, Dropbox, Twitter, and Zendesk.
All features available on the desktop version are made available on the app, making it easier for users to work on the go.
It also includes support for Live Tiles, allowing users to view recent messages in the start menu.
This new addition follows the launch of Microsoft’s ‘Teams’ in November 2016, its chat-based workspace tool which was integrated with Office 365 and other programmes like Skype, Microsoft Word and Excel.
