Alcatel-Lucent has won a contract from Bouygues Construction’s broadband services unit Axione to provide Ethernet, IP Multi-Protocol Label Switching, and fiber-to-the-home technologies to enable it to provide high-speed triple-play services in 11 departments and cities across France.
Alcatel-Lucent is also expected to provide professional services including project management, network design, installation, integration, and maintenance.
Alcatel-Lucent’s Ethernet and IP/MPLS network is expected to enable Axione to offer communication services such as Virtual Leased Lines (VLL) and Virtual Private LAN Services (VPLS) to its business customers. In addition, Alcatel-Lucent is also expected to deliver fully tested, integrated, high-performance Fiber To The Home (FTTH) network services.
Jacques Beauvois, chairman at Axione, said: Economic development and growth for our customers across the country is the goal of this project. Alcatel-Lucent’s IP/MPLS network allows us to significantly improve operations and meet our growing business needs. As well, their recognized expertise in fiber provides us with efficient access solutions to enhance customer service levels in regional communities.
AT&T has been selected for its IP/MPLS portfolio by over 250 service providers in more than 100 countries. Last year, it won a contract from Telecom New Zealand to deploy its IP/MPLS-based mobile backhaul application, and won a five-year 45.5m euros ($67m) contract from US-based electric power providers EPB to provide fiber-to-the-home services in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
