Dr Pepper Snapple Group, a beverage company, has deployed TeleNav Track, a cell phone-based GPS navigation and tracking service.

According to TeleNav, Dr Pepper Snapple Group (DPS) has improved accountability and saved on labor and mileage costs through the use of TeleNav Track. Dr Pepper Snapple is also using Nextel Direct Connect and wireless devices from Sprint for instant communication between employees.

Dr Pepper Snapple Group’s Lenexa, Kansas, branch is responsible for providing products to its 2.1 million customers in the Kansas City Metro Area. The branch relies on mobile-based merchandisers to stock store shelves. After merchandisers began using TeleNav Track on their GPS-enabled Sprint wireless phones, DPS saw immediate improvements. Employees now clock in and out directly from their cell phone and TeleNav Track notes the location and time automatically.

According to TeleNav, mileage tracking is also automatic and management can run reports directly from a secure web-based location. TeleNav Track can notify managers when merchandisers take long breaks, leave a designated area or exhibit reckless driving behaviors, all of which helps DPS minimize risk to its business.

Britt Butler, branch manager for Dr Pepper Snapple Group, said: It is amazing how efficient our operations have become since we started using TeleNav Track. In just one year after deploying the solution, we have saved over $166,000 because of our ability to accurately track our employees’ hours worked and mileage traveled. The savings has paid for the TeleNav Track service over and over again.
