Emerson Electric is global manufacturing company combining technology and engineering.

The American multinational corporation creates products and also provides engineering services in a wide range of industrial settings, in addition to commercial and consumer markets.

Emerson is split into five business platforms; Process management, Industrial Automation, Network Power, Climate Technologies and Commercial & Residential solutions businesses.

What do these businesses do?

Emerson provides critical infrastructure technologies and life cycle services for information and communications technology systems.

The automation solutions line of business is billed as helping businesses to hit their targets and looks at areas of operations, industrial IoT, and capital projects.

The climate technologies area of its business is focused on providing heating, air conditioning and refrigeration solutions.

The company recently launched a modular rack cooling system, which is aimed at SME data centres across Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Following this, Emerson decided to spin off its Network Power data centre unit. The unit provides electrical infrastructure for data centres and telecoms.

The unit was sold to Platinum Equity and now goes under the name Vertiv. Emerson retained a 15% subordinated equity piece in the company.

The former APC CEO Rob Johnson was also appointed as the new CEO of the rebranded company.
