Telefónica’s enterprise unit has signed an agreement to provide Internet of Things (IOT) connectivity to Nestle’s range of coffee machines.
The companies did not disclose the financial terms of the deal.
Under the deal, Telefónica Business Solutions will provide connectivity in over 50 countries, and supply its Smart m2m Solution, a platform that will allow Nestlé to manage and control its IoT communications.
Going forward, new Nestlé Professional coffee makers will come with the telemetry solution, while legacy products will be upgraded with an add-on module to offer the similar capabilities.
The deal will enable Nestle to remotely configure its coffee machines, including adjusting the taste. It will also improve efficiency with predictive maintenance models.
Nestle global head of business applications Henri de Roo said: “Telefonica enabled us a new way of communicating and interacting with our coffee solutions at a global scale, allowing us to personalise our customer experience.
Telefonica Business Solutions’ European corporates & multinationals director José Luis Gamo said: “We aim to empower all-sized companies with prominent communications to help them lead the digital revolution ahead and consequently better serve their own customers.”
eTelefonica’s Smart m2m can be integrated into any existing business process. Apart from Nestle, the solution is already serving over 2,500 customers globally, across all industries.
Through Smart m2m, Telefónica provides a set of solutions that include all the elements required to work with machine to machine, from the connectivity, to managed services, supervision and control tools as well as other advanced services like business advisor service.
