Trend Micro plans to ease the management burden needed to secure enterprise assets against malware attacks by integrating with automated endpoint discovery and security management software from new business partner BigFix.

One outcome of the association between the two companies will be endpoint security that can be powered from a central management console with a reach of up to 10,000 wired and wireless assets.

The companies said that the first in a series of new endpoint modules planned is the Trend Micro Web Protection Module, designed to protect endpoints against web threats and provide security enhancements to the BigFix platform. It is available now to new and current BigFix Endpoint Protection or Unified Management Platform customers at no cost.

A Trend Micro-branded version of the BigFix Unified Management Platform, as well as additional endpoint security modules, will be made available during the first quarter of the year.

The deal will see the addition of features such as automated configuration and patch management capabilities to the Trend roster, aspects of information security management that big businesses want to see so as to be able to better orchestrate their security infrastructure refresh processes.
