According to a report from Forrester, by 2021 artificial intelligent agents, or robots, will eliminate 6 percent of jobs in the US.

The intelligent agents, which are built to represent a set of AI- powered systems, are known to understand human behaviour and make decisions for users. By 2021 however, the robots will be much better at understanding human language and also better at learning from users.

The report found that the expanded cognitive abilities will make intelligent agents more useful for users, driving a widespread adoption over the next three to five years.

Chat bots and digital assistants already include Amazon Alexa, Apple Siri, Alphabet GoogleNow and Facebook’s Messenger bots; these which are all powered by artificial intelligence have the ability to understand human behaviour.

Companies like Facebook and Google are already working on their algorithms, to build huge bodies of data. What the report found is, by 2021, others will tap the tools to scale their business and increase in market scale.

Brian Hopkins, Forrester’s spokesperson, said: “By 2021 a disruptive tidal wave will begin. Solutions powered by AI/ cognitive technology will displace jobs, with the biggest impact felt in transportation, logistics, customer services.”

AI-based services and apps will eventually change various industries, which will result to a redistribution of jobs.
