ZigBee is a type of wireless connectivity that is used by devices to communicate with each other, especially in smart home configurations.
ZigBee allows a low energy, short distance and low data rate transfer of information wirelessly. It can only be sent between objects within each other’s line of sight.
However, through its use of mesh networking, in which each individual device is able to forward a signal onto the next device, it can cover a much greater distance.
It has a defined rate of 250 kbps, which suits intermittent transmissions.
