Enterprise software provider FrontRange has launched SAM Suite, integrating asset discovery, license management and application lifecycle management to reduce IT procurement and service costs.
SAM Suite is the first project to be launched by FrontRange’s Infrastructure Management Group and was developed using technologies acquired by FrontRange when it swallowed up Enteo in 2007 and Centennial Software in 2008.
FrontRange believes that the new service will enable companies to reduce spend on unnecessary software purchases, avoid non-compliance fines and reduce software management overheads.
Andy Burton, vice president of the Infrastructure Management Group at FrontRange, said: “In the current economic climate, organisations need to realise immediate cost savings, avoid unnecessary costs and put themselves in the strongest possible position going forward. FrontRange SAM Suite is a single-vendor solution that enables organisations to realise each of these goals.”
FrontRange said its offering can reduce the possibility of over-licensing, by enabling the organisation to pinpoint any potential duplication. Productivity and efficiency can also be improved as many deployment and configuration management tasks can be automated.
Fred Broussard, Research Director for PC, Device and IT Service Management at IDC, said: “Software asset management is one area where IDC expects IT organisations to focus more attention in these tough economic times. One of the first steps in creating an effective SAM program is ensuring your IT organisation knows exactly what software is on the network and work towards having organised, credible records of all licenses and their uses.”
