British Telecommunications Plc is planning to move as many as 18,000 office jobs to just outside central London in a move intended to save the company up to UKP44m in London weighting payments, the Evening Standard reported. Employees in Central London are generally paid a special London weighting premium to cover the supposed extra cost of w market turning against it. It may also abandon its City headquarters and move to a smaller building in the West End. Full details of the plans are not expected to be released until January, but the National Communications Union leaked the news to mobilise opposition to it.
