Striking workers at Bull HN’s peripherals factory in Belfort, France have rejected management’s most recent counter-proposition for layoff compensation. Jean-Pierre Chevenement, Belfort’s deputy mayor and France’s former minister of defence, is supporting the workers, criticising the attitude of the factory’s management regarding compensation for laid off workers. Bull’s announced intent to reduce the number of workers at Belfort from 1,400 to 430 as of January 1 is part of its Transformation Plan, the success of which is vital to Bull returning to profitability.
