Medical University of South Carolina plans to replace its revenue management systems with McKesson’s Horizon Enterprise Revenue Management system.

By integrating with Medical University of South Carolina’s (MUSC) existing clinical system, the system is expected to help the academic medical center improve its financial performance, while providing decision support throughout the care process, said McKesson.

MUSC will begin implementing Horizon Enterprise Revenue Management later in 2009. As a result, the health system expects to achieve reductions in bad debt and the number of days in accounts receivable. In addition, MUSC predicts the system will improve staff productivity and overall customer service.

Frank Clark, vice president of IT and chief information officer at MUSC, said: Having successfully partnered with McKesson in the past to implement an array of healthcare solutions, including our advanced clinicals, we have eagerly followed the development of Horizon Enterprise Revenue Management. Once fully deployed, we are confident that we will be better equipped to address our most pressing revenue management challenges.
