Dutch low-cost airline transavia.com has signed a five-year-contract with Lufthansa Systems, a German IT provider for the airline and aviation sector, for the implementation and use of Lido RouteManual system.
According to Lufthansa Systems, with the Lido RouteManual system, the airline can optimize its flight operations and benefits with the navigation charts. By implementing Lido RouteManual transavia.com is expected to reduce the amount of paper in the cockpit.
Lido RouteManual includes graphical representations of take-off and landing procedures as well as true-to-scale geographic information such as terrain features and rivers. The navigation charts are generated directly from a database which is based on worldwide geographical and aeronautical data.
The airline also plans to introduce the two-paper concept consisting of the airport facility chart with the airport ground chart on its back, along with a summary of all relevant approach altitudes. This reduces the number of printed charts on board and reportedly lowers the associated logistics costs.
Matthieu Verdegaal, director flight technical department at transavia.com, said: Lido RouteManual meets the highest standards of precision and quality. The new charts support visual thought with clear color-coding and self-explanatory symbols and that way enable our pilots to see all relevant information at a glance.
