Global payments services firm YESpay has secured new contracts to provide a high-speed payment service to the British Museum and a secure Chip & PIN payments system to academic bookseller Blackwell.

The British Museum Company – the commercial arm of the British Museum – has selected YESpay’s EMBOSS Payment Processing Service, The new payment service is fully accredited by its card acquirer and compliant with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) across seven locations and 34 tills.

Using the service, all transactions are centrally logged in real-time during online authorisation. According to YESpay, the British Museum Company can now run batched overnight settlements, meaning no further store intervention is required during the transaction process.

Muna Khan, IT manager at The British Museum Company, said: “We were concerned with the security of handling of our own payments and we had no way of tracking payments with our existing technology. We would occasionally receive phone calls from customers to advise that their monthly bill hadn’t been taken, which raised concerns of the level of service we were providing.”

“We can log onto a secure site and instantly access a record of payments made. If there are any discrepancies between sales and payments not matching we can download statistics and check records,” Khan said.

Blackwell is a bookseller focusing on the academic market, with nearly 50 stores throughout England, Scotland and Wales. Its flagship store is located on Charing Cross in London.

The company has implemented YESpay’s PCI: DSS compliant EMBOSS platform, which provides secure Chip & PIN payments across its 160 EPOS tills.

Victor Smith, IT manager, at Blackwell, said: “The adoption of YESpay’s EMBOSS payment solution means that we don’t have the burden of complying with PCI standards ourselves. It has saved us time and money, as well as offering further business benefits. We now have the ability to view critical business information online through a portal on the YESpay website, which provides us with visibility on sales data.”

Installing YESpay’s pre-accredited system has saved Blackwell over three months of bank accreditation and PCI approval time.

YESpay’s other clients include Watford Football Club, Yorkshire County Cricket Club, the British Library and Reuters.
