AT&T Co plans to expand sourcing of personal computers from Taiwanese suppliers, a senior NCR Corp official told Reuter: AT&T plans to begin buying fully assembled personal computers from Taiwan for sale under the AT&T or NCR brand names in foreign markets, with annual purchases of Taiwanese personal computers perhaps reaching 200,000; currently, AT&T buys partly assembled personal computers and components from such Taiwanese suppliers as Acer Inc and Mitac International Corp, and the planned expansion is part of the company’s efforts to cut costs and to rationalise its computer marketing and production.
