GRiD Systems Corp and Pen Pal Associates Inc have introduced GRiDPen-Pal, described as an applications development environment that enables non-professionals to develop applications for GRiDPad, GRiD’s pen-based computer: Pen Pal Associates Inc, based in Los Altos, California, is headed by Samuel Wiegand, former president of GRiD, and the company’s first product, GRiDPen-Pal, was developed with input from GRiD and will be sold and supported as a GRiD product; the new GRiDPad marketing programme will include application development tool kit, local workshop and local training and support contracts; the GRiDPen-Pal application development tool kit costs $1,650, and the run-time control program is $425; both are in field test and volume ships are scheduled to begin in August.
